Generally I like the silent ones better as well because I feel like a lot of the really talkative ones aren't done properly, but when a developer/developer team makes a really well designed character like Vaas (Far Cry 3) or Handsome Jack (Borderlands 2) I want as many lines as they can give me

i find silent protagonists more interesting what's there motives why are they doing this and all these little details you learn from their body language along the way
