I like the idea of having a few buttons extra on my mouse for shortcuts, but 8*7 is way too overkill in my opinion. If some crazy dude manages to remember which one of the modes he's on, then remembers all the shortcut buttons for each mode then that could potentially become a deadly weapon of mass...
