WARNING: This thread contains spoilers for Far Cry 3's main plot!
It might also have non-family-friendly content. You're warned.
I just finished Far Cry 3 today, and I'll have to say that it's an awesome game. The story is in my opinion one the best I've played, but not as good as the Half-Life series and The Walking Dead (based on the comics). I really liked it, but what bothers me is the ending(s), and some parts of the plot. Here you can come with your own theories, opinions and your analyzation of the plot. Spoil everything, no need to hide information, this is a thread for those who have finished the story.
What I meant about the ending(s) is that they're very open, or atleast one of them is. You get two options, saving your friends or stay with Citra.
I chose saving my friends, as I felt so bad for them because I kinda missed them. Yes, I did miss them after Jason said he would leave them and stay on the island. It was hard for me to exit that cave, and I had to talk with the others first. I couldn't believe how stupid Jason was to choose to abandon his girlfriend, and his friends, to stay on the island killing people. In my opinion, he had become insane, or atleast he was on the edge the whole time. As you've might noticed, I'm very soft in the emotional way, I would never have made that choice if I were to choose. Video games like this tend to get really into me, like The Walking Dead.
When I exited that cave, I couldn't go back. I tried several times after later missions to return to the cave, but an invisible wall was blocking me, unfortunately. The only thing I could think of was if I would ever see my friends again. At the end of the game, when I finally saw them, I was relieved in a way. They didn't leave the island even though days went and they said they would leave "soon". But that ending where you saved them was dissapointing, it didn't really tell you what happened afterwards. Did they leave the island, or did they stay? If they left, why are you able to free-roam afterwards? Did they leave you then? If they stayed, where are they? The cave is blocked, the city is just full of people who already lives there, and there is no other place they could be.
I've tried to find an answer, but I haven't succeeded yet. What also affected me is Dennis' reaction when he killed Citra, that was quite sad... All of this, everything I've been through to save my friends made me into a monster. Or, made Jason into a monster, I'm still the same "me", just that I'm really thinking through everything about this game to find an answer. He said it himself, after torturing his little brother, Riley. "What have I become?" The thirst of venegance made him into one of the evil. Liza's reaction to his personality changing is also something to notice.
The second ending, though , that was weird in my opinion. It really has to be the worst ending in my gaming history.
I'll talk more about the main plot tomorrow, but I can mention one thing. Remember Buck? He magically teleported, he knew where you were going. Also, the compass was glowing with magic. Could all the drugs that Jason got through the game have been affecting him so he would be slightly hallucinating all the time? Parts of the story is really dream-ish and unrealistic.
Your opinion and analyzation is highly appreciated!
