I was thinking that having people vote on their favorite map and then nothing but that map for one whole day

After a few hours the people playing on the server might change, and if that were to happen then the majorities opinion could change as well. As far as I know map voting was created so the players could avoid unappealing maps or play on their favorite map without having to wait for the rotation, which is the essence of what you are suggesting. If there was a "favorite map day" then I think it would make more sense to have a poll on the forums with all 46 maps as options. The top 3-5 could have their own looped rotation for the day (aslong as people could still votemap incase the need arises). Im not sure if the work required to make this possable would be worth it though .
