{Forum Suggestion} Like Button?

Post by Markusmoo »

So I have seen on some forums before that they have a like-dislike option for posts/comments. I think that would be awesome to have on this forum. Do you think it would be possible for any of you guys to add it?

I wish I dislike your post and topic
Because it makes people feel bad or mad that people dislike....
Facebook didn't have a dislike button for a Reason
But HAVING A Like button is just as bad
there's articles saying its bad and such
U guys fish them out this time No one reads my paragraphs....

I would like one for the thread, but not for replies. It usually creates a disgusting bandwagon effect like on youtube.

Way to wake up an old post.

But I might add a "thanks" button to the posts instead of like/dislike.

Not exactly reddit style, upvotes won't bump posts up to the top of the thread.

And you're too young to be be reading reddit, get off of that site DA KID.

You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keels. Makes her a home."

I was going to say the same but replace Youtube with Reddit. Whenever there is a metric on a website to determine the "worth" of a post (or even a thread), the number of people starting a thread for the purpose of intelligent conversation diminishes. In its place are threads trying to harvest as many "likes" or "upvotes" as possible. Say what you want about 4chan, but in terms of its design, not adding said metric and making people anonymous is almost enough to redeem that atrocious cesspool.

If you'd like a fascinating perspective on this effect, I reccomend reading MIT's "An Analysis of Anonymity and Ephemerality in a Large Online Community" by Michael S. Bernstein. You can find it here:

Be warned though, there is quoted cursing in this essay.[/b]
